There isn’t much wrong with Apple’s camera app for your iPhone. It will take photos, it shoots video and even accessible through the lock screen. It does lack options, though. And that is where Camera Awesome will come in. There are so many options in this camera app, manufactured by picture-sharing website SmugMug, it’s tough to know where to begin.
As the iOS Camera app allows you to overlay a grid, to become proficient to line-up your shot, Camera Awesome gives you an array of grids from which to choose. While Camera takes just a single shot, Camera Awesome may take instant shots boasting image stabilisation too. When you have taken your photo, a few insightful editing options available. It is possible to ‘awesomize’ your photo by using a slider that boosts certain levels inside the image or manually adjust levels for example sharpness and saturation.
If you would like more options then the app is filled with filters, presets, textures and frames – around 300 altogether. You obtain nine of every free however, you will have to pay to unlock the remainder. Unlocking, say, all of the filters will set you back £2.49 in UK. Or you can unlock everything for £6.99 in UK.
I’d recommend using the free features for a while first to determine how much use you will get out of it. It likely has too many features for your casual snapper but it is worth trying against each other. If the app becomes your default camera, then £6.99 in UK is an excellent price for the variety of solutions.
And, because it was built by the photography website, sharing is built-in. It supports sharing to SmugMug of course, yet it’s equally easy to share to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram plus much more. You may even quicken the process by setting-up one-touch sharing to your favourite site. I cannot point out that Camera Awesome rocks ! only for the reason that word ‘awesome’ is over-used inside the technology world to the point of meaninglessness and should be stopped. It will be fair to think of it as Camera Excellent, though.
